Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that six Olympic champion Usain Bolt could feature for the Red Devils in a charity game.

Bolt, who won gold in the 100 and 200 and 4×100 metre events at the London 2012 and Beijing 2008 Olympics, has joked that he wants a trial at United, and tried to get fans to persuade Sir Alex to sign him when he was paraded to the crowd during the club’s 3-2 victory against Fulham.

Speaking to the club’s magazine, Ferguson said “It’s interesting he says he’d like to play in a charity game,

“It could be brilliant and next year, when we play Real Madrid’s Legends again, there could be opportunities to bring him up and see how he does.

“He’s a bit of a character and a big United fan,” Ferguson added.

“The people from these small islands, like Dwight Yorke from Trinidad & Tobago, they all play football and he probably played at school level or youth level or something like that. It’d be nice to get him up here, I think it’ll be good.”
