New comedy-drama Fly Me to the Moon to hit cinemas on 12 July

Sony Pictures has announced that Fly Me to the Moon, directed by Greg Berlanti and starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, will be released exclusively in cinemas on 12th July 2024. The film, which also features an ensemble cast including Nick Dillenburg, Anna Garcia and Woody Harrelson, is a sharp, stylish comedy-drama set against the backdrop of NASA’s Apollo 11 moon landing. The screenplay, written by Rose Gilroy, is based on a story by Bill Kirstein and Keenan Flynn.

In Fly Me to the Moon, Johansson plays marketing maven Kelly Jones, who is brought in to fix NASA’s public image. Sparks fly as she clashes with launch director Cole Davis, portrayed by Tatum. As the mission’s importance escalates, Jones is instructed to stage a fake moon landing as a backup, adding further tension to the high-stakes scenario.
