José Pizarro celebrates 25 years in the UK with a special event in London

Spanish chef José Pizarro will be celebrating his 25th year in the UK with a special dining event on Saturday, 14th September at Pizarro Restaurant on Bermondsey Street, London. The event, organised in collaboration with Good Food, aims to highlight the signature dishes that have established Pizarro as a leading figure in Spanish cuisine in Britain.

Attendees will be greeted with a glass of Cava and can look forward to a menu featuring some of the chef’s most famous creations, including 100% Jamón Ibérico, Pan con Tomate, Black Squid Ink and Prawn Croquetas, Presa Iberica, and a Basque Cheesecake with fresh English strawberries to finish. The evening is designed to foster a social atmosphere with communal tables and dishes served in a style that encourages sharing, reflecting the traditional dining culture of Spain. Each guest will also receive a goodie bag as a memento of the evening.

Pizarro Restaurant is located just one block away from José’s original tapas bar on Bermondsey Street, close to London Bridge station, and a short walk from the latest project of the Spanish chef, Lolo.

Originally from a rural village near Cáceres, Extremadura, Pizarro has lived in London for almost 25 years. In his early career, he trained in the top restaurants in Spain, before becoming head chef at a Michelin star restaurant. Moving to Eyre Brothers in Shoreditch before becoming the Executive Chef at Brindisa, in 2011, he eventually opened his first restaurant José on Bermondsey Street, offering simple and traditional tapas. His restaurants now include José Pizarro at the Royal Academy, José Pizarro Broadgate, Pizarro, and José Pizarro The Swan Inn, while he has also published a line of regional Spanish cookbooks. Earlier this year, he opened his first restaurant outside the UK: José by Pizarro, at the Conrad Hilton in Abu Dhabi.

The one-of-a-kind September experience not only marks a significant milestone in the chef’s career but also offers an opportunity for food enthusiasts to enjoy a curated selection of his best dishes in an interactive and convivial setting.
