Holland premieres at SXSW, starring Nicole Kidman in a tale of idyllic life turned chaotic

Yesterday, the world premiere of the new thriller Holland took place at the SXSW Film Festival at The Paramount Theatre. The film, available for streaming globally on Prime Video from 27th March, features an ensemble cast including Nicole Kidman, Matthew Macfadyen, Gael García Bernal and Jude Hill. Directed by Mimi Cave and written by Andrew Sodroski, the movie explores the seemingly perfect life of Nancy Vandergroot, which spirals into chaos, revealing hidden truths.

Kidman portrays Nancy, a teacher and homemaker, living an idyllic life with her husband (Macfadyen) and their son (Jude Hill), in the picturesque town of Holland, Michigan. The narrative takes a dark turn when Nancy and her colleague, played by García Bernal, discover a secret that unravels everything they know about their lives.

The film’s runtime is 108 minutes, and it aims to engage audiences with its mix of suspense and dramatic twists. The production team includes Kate Churchill, Peter Dealbert, Nicole Kidman and Per Saari, who have collectively ensured that the storytelling is both compelling and visually engaging.

The thriller’s exploration of idyllic surface lives concealing darker truths is likely to resonate with a global audience, especially those fond of suspense and mystery. At the premiere, the cast and crew shared insights into the making of the film.
