Outrageous: On the red carpet with the cast at the London premiere

Set in the 1930s, this new series, Outrageous, created by Sarah Williams, has been adapted from The Mitford Girls biography, written by Mary S Lovell, and explores the intricate lives of the family, their political views and the outlandish behaviour that made their names notorious around the world.
Growing up in rural Oxfordshire in a beautiful estate with a strict father who didn’t agree with the girls getting a formal education, the six Mitford sisters, who felt imprisoned, then delved into the library for books to seek knowledge, and each found themselves on a different trajectory. Nancy (Bessie Carter) was the eldest and became a novelist herself, whilst the others had scandalous relationships, extreme political views and even dalliances with Hitler himself.
The Upcoming had the pleasure of attending the premiere of the series and spoke to Bessie Carter about her role as Nancy, how she felt being the eldest and how progressive these women were for the era they lived in.
We spoke to James Musgrave about his character Hamish Erskine, how he forged a complex relationship with Nancy Mitford and what it was like on set.
Zoe Brough chatted to us about playing Jessica (Decca) Mitford, how she was viewed as the red sheep of the family, down to her political views and also about the funny moments on set with the rest of the cast.
In the role of Tom, the only Mitford son, Toby Regba spoke to us about the sibling dynamics, the complex characters they were and what drew him to the part.
Jamie Blackley chatted to us about playing Peter Rodd, preparing for the role, the unique elements of this series and how timely it is.
We spoke to Shannon Watson about her character of Unity, how she prepped for her portrayal, and how authentic and specific the costume design from Claire Collins was.
Stepping into the role of Diana, who was known for a glamorous demeanour, Joanna Vanderham chatted to us about taking on that part, the beautiful costumes and the amazing time spent on set with the cast.
Isobel Jesper Jones spoke about playing the more mysterious and private Mitford sister, Pamela, who challenged the norm by being the first woman to drive solo across Europe, her fearless nature and what attracted her to the role.
Orla Hill, who plays Deborah Mitford, chatted to us about her character, how she took a back seat on politics as opposed to her other sisters and how she preferred a quieter country life.
