Sky unveils first look teaser for explosive action-adventure series Atomic, launching 28th August

Sky has revealed the first-look teaser and official images for its adrenaline-charged new action-adventure series Atomic, set to premiere on Thursday 28th August 2025 on Sky and streaming service NOW.

Starring Alfie Allen (SAS: Rogue Heroes, Game of Thrones), Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery, What’s Love Got to Do With It) and Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale, Orange is the New Black), the series throws two unlikely companions into a high-octane race for survival across North Africa and the Middle East.

Allen plays Max, a free-spirited drug smuggler whose path collides with JJ (Latif), an enigmatic outsider on the run. When the pair are pulled into a dangerous mission involving the illicit trafficking of highly enriched uranium, their journey becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse involving the CIA, MI6 and a global web of covert interests.

Wiley stars as Cassie Elliott, a Non-Official Cover (NOC) officer and CIA scientist determined to track Max and JJ down. Mistaking them for collaborators of violent extremists, her relentless pursuit places them all on a treacherous collision course – one where trust is scarce, motives are murky, and the truth is far from what it seems.

Created by Gregory Burke and inspired by William Langewiesche’s acclaimed non-fiction book The Atomic Bazaar, Atomic blends explosive action with emotional depth. As Max and JJ navigate covert operatives, cartel agents, and the ghosts of their pasts, their reluctant alliance may just offer a chance at redemption – and survival.

The eight-part series is produced by Pulse Films, a VICE Studios company, in association with Sky Studios. The cast also features Brian Gleeson, Franklin Virguez, Avital Lvova, Stuart Martin, Vahid Gold and Charlie Murphy. The series is written by Burke, Clare McQuillan, Ishy Din and JW Lee, and directed by Shariff Korver.
