Global chefs and culinary innovators line up for expanded Buonissima festival this October

The city of Turin will host the fifth edition of international gastronomy festival Buonissima this October. The event, founded by journalists Stefano Cavallito and Luca Iaccarino, along with chef Matteo Baronetto, will bring together over 100 culinary experts from Italy and around the globe. It is spread across more than 70 venues throughout the city, with over 120 culinary events, highlighting Turin’s role in the international food and wine scene.

The autumn edition follows a special summer instalment held in conjunction with the World’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony, also in Turin. Organisers say the upcoming festival will feature an expanded programme, with a mix of established formats and new initiatives designed to explore the relationship between food, art and culture.

This year’s opening dinner will take place at the historic Palazzo Madama, involving ten prominent Italian chefs in a roaming culinary experience. Among the returning highlights for the week is Metti Torino a Cena, which pairs local chefs with their international counterparts for collaborative four-handed dinners. Piolissima will once again focus on traditional cuisine served in the city’s piole – or informal eateries – in keeping with festival’s self-proclaimed “dual soul”, which combines the accessibility of casual dining with the innovation of high-end gastronomy. This year’s edition will also introduce several new events, including a dinner dedicated to art at the Gallerie d’Italia, a themed tram tour showcasing Piedmont’s culinary heritage, and an intimate Chef’s Table. Another feature will be BistroMania, a collaboration between chefs from Barcelona and Turin.

Buonissima continues to position itself as a platform for culinary exchange and cultural engagement in Italy and beyond, attracting renowned figures such as Massimo Bottura, Ferran Adrià, Alain Ducasse, Enrico Crippa, Virgilio Martínez and Rene Redzepi in previous years. Organisers describe the festival’s aim as fostering dialogue between different creative disciplines, saying, “All Buonissima events work in this direction, paying tribute to and promoting the relationship between food, art and beauty in a transversal and universal way”.
