Will Sharpe and Paul Bettany lead bold reimagining of Amadeus in Sky’s new series

Sky has unveiled the full trailer for Amadeus, a visually stunning five-part limited series based on Peter Shaffer’s award-winning play, reimagined by writer Joe Barton (Giri/Haji, Black Doves). The series premieres on Sky and streaming service NOW from 21st December 2025.

Will Sharpe (The White Lotus) stars as the mercurial musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, while Paul Bettany (WandaVision) plays his rival, court composer Antonio Salieri. Gabrielle Creevy (In My Skin) co-stars as Mozart’s wife, Constanze Weber.

Set against the opulence of 18th-century Vienna, Amadeus charts the electrifying rise and tragic downfall of the composer once hailed as the rock star of his time. As Mozart’s genius shines brighter, Salieri’s resentment deepens – turning admiration into obsession, faith into fury. What begins as professional envy morphs into a decades-long vendetta that culminates in a desperate confession and a chilling legacy.

Directed by Julian Farino and Alice Seabright, the series promises a visceral and theatrical retelling of the classic tale, bringing new energy and psychological depth to the story of genius, madness and revenge. The cast also includes Rory Kinnear, Ényì Okoronkwo, Jessica Alexander and Jonathan Aris, among others.
