First look at Netflix’s Detective Hole: Jo Nesbø’s iconic anti-hero comes to the screen

Netflix has shared a first glimpse at Detective Hole, its upcoming adaptation of Jo Nesbø’s bestselling crime novels, with the series set to land on 26^th March 2026.

Starring Tobias Santelmann (Exit) as the damaged but brilliant Oslo detective Harry Hole, the nine-episode series brings Nesbø’s hard-boiled storytelling to the screen in a tale that blurs the line between justice and revenge. Joel Kinnaman (The Suicide Squad) plays his corrupt police rival Tom Waaler, with Pia Tjelta (Made in Oslo) co-starring as Rakel Fauke.

Set against the icy backdrop of Norway’s capital, the show promises a grimly atmospheric take on Nordic noir. Hole is pulled into a tense cat-and-mouse chase with both a serial killer and a nemesis within his own department.

“Seeing Tobias bring Harry to life has been really exciting,” Nesbø commented, hinting at a darker, more personal spin on the character.

Detective Hole is directed by Øystein Karlsen (Exit) and Anna Zackrisson (The Helicopter Heist), and produced by Working Title and Universal International Studios. It joins a growing list of Netflix’s international crime dramas and marks the streaming giant’s most ambitious Norwegian series to date.
