Kelly Reilly returns to crime drama in Sky’s Under Salt Marsh – full trailer released

Sky has unveiled the full trailer for its upcoming original drama Under Salt Marsh, a haunting new six-part series led by Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly and Trying’s Rafe Spall. Set in the fictional coastal town of Morfa Halen, the series premieres on Sky and NOW from 30th January 2026.

Created, written and directed by Claire Oakley (Make Up), the series unfolds as a violent storm rolls in from the sea, dredging up secrets long thought buried. Reilly stars as Jackie Ellis, a former detective turned schoolteacher whose discovery during the storm reopens a cold case that shattered her career and personal life three years earlier. Forced into an uneasy reunion with her ex-police partner Eric Bull (Spall), Jackie is pulled back into an investigation that threatens to upend the already fragile town.

Under Salt Marsh promises a tense and emotionally layered mystery, balancing the slow-burn satisfaction of a small-town whodunnit with a deeper exploration of guilt, grief and fractured relationships. Reilly, also an executive producer on the project, is joined by a strong ensemble including Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Yang, Brian Gleeson, Dinita Gohil, Kimberley Nixon and Harry Lawtey.

Filmed in Wales and supported by Creative Wales, the series was produced by Little Door Productions in association with Sky Studios. Additional writing comes from Jonathan Harbottle and Nikita Lalwani, with Mary Nighy directing episodes 3 and 4. The production team also includes Scott Bassett and Emma Duffy as producers, and Elwen Rowlands and Megan Spanjian as executive producers.

With brooding visuals and emotional depth teased in the newly released trailer, Under Salt Marsh looks set to join the ranks of Sky’s most compelling original dramas.
