On the red carpet at the Red Sea Film Festival, director Rupert Wyatt discussed his epic film Desert Warrior. Set in seventh century Arabia, the movie follows courageous Princess Hind (Aiysha Hart) as she flees the Sassanid Emperor and must unite disparate tribes to fight for their freedom.

In his chat with The Upcoming, Wyatt spoke about the unique challenges and privileges of bringing this ambitious historical narrative to the screen. He highlighted that, “It was the opportunity, mostly, to tell a story on such an ambitious scale on location,” emphasising the film’s authenticity by shooting in the Tobouk region without extensive visual effects. Wyatt described the striking desert landscapes as a blessing, crucial for capturing the film’s scope and atmosphere.

We also heard from Sharlto Copley and Aiysha Hart on their roles in the film.
