London Victoria to welcome UK’s first railway station food hall
Market Place Food Hall will open the UK’s first food hall inside a railway station at London Victoria on Friday 16th October, bringing ten independent global street food traders, a cocktail and craft beer bar and live sport screenings to one of the country’s busiest transport hubs.
The venue occupies Units 15–16 of the Victoria Place Shopping Centre, with entrances from the main station concourse, the taxi rank and Eccleston Bridge. It seats 180 and is family and dog friendly. Live train departure screens have been installed inside the hall, allowing diners to monitor their services without leaving their table.
The trader line-up spans several cuisines. Argentinian Grill serves flame-grilled meats, steaks and barbecue dishes, while Streat Latin offers tacos, burritos, arepas and loaded nachos. Hide & Greek provides gyros, wraps, salad boxes and loaded fries, and Made in Puglia serves Italian pizzas with halal, vegetarian and vegan options. Inamo Sukoshi covers sushi and Japanese street food, SABA offers Korean-inspired bulgogi bowls and fried chicken, and Thai House serves pad Thai, drunken noodles and Massaman curry. Jollof Mama specialises in West African dishes inspired by Nigerian cooking, Limin serves Caribbean-Indian food including jerk chicken roti, curried goat, panipuri, doubles and samosas, and The Duck Shed offers duck wraps and burgers.
A series of opening offers will run through the first weeks of trading. From 16th to 26th October, the food hall will give away 50 free food and drink offers each day from 5pm, with each day’s giveaway announced on its Instagram account – 550 free offers in total across the 11 days. A happy hour running Monday to Friday from 3pm to 7pm will price margaritas and pints at £5.
Customers signing up to the Market Place rewards platform will receive a free welcome drink, which must be redeemed within a month of registering, and a further free drink on spends of £10 or more.
Holly Hilton, marketing director at Market Place Food Hall, said: “Victoria is one of the busiest stations in the country, so we wanted to create something that feels completely different from the usual train station food experience. We want to make grabbing a proper meal before your train just as quick and easy as standing in a queue to pay for a meal deal, but with ten independent food traders, great drinks and a proper place to sit and enjoy it. And because we have the live departure screen inside the food hall, you can even sit back with a pint, keep an eye on your train and know exactly when it’s time to head to the platform. It’s about making the journey feel like part of the experience, rather than something you simply rush through.”
The Victoria site is the operator’s sixth London location, joining halls in Leicester Square, St Paul’s, Vauxhall, Harrow and Peckham. Screens throughout the venue will show major sporting fixtures.
