Amira Diab’s directorial feature debut, Wedding Rehearsal, premiered at the Red Sea Film Festival. The film follows Tamara, from an impoverished aristocratic family, as she navigates an arranged marriage to wealthy Hassan to save her family from bankruptcy. As their families gather for preparations, deep-seated differences and Tamara’s old love, Omar, create tension.

In this interview with The Upcoming, Diab shared her personal motivation, observing societal overconsumption and the true meaning of relationships. She explained, “All that matters, I think, is the partnership,” a core idea shaping the feature’s exploration of love and identity beyond appearances and wealth. She also discussed her collaboration with writer Dina Mahr and the movie’s symbolic elements.
