“What a weird, amazing show this is”: The cast of School Spirits on season three

The popular teen drama School Spirits returns for a third season, with creators Nate Trinrud and Megan Trinrud introducing darker themes and deeper emotional layers for both newcomers and the returning cast. The season includes Peyton List, who not only steps back into her central role as Maddie but also serves as an executive producer on the series.

Trapped somewhere between the living world and the afterlife, Split River High School is brimming with ghosts seeking answers about their deaths. Nick Pugliese returns as Charley, now in a relationship with Yuri (Miles Elliot). However, insecurities begin to surface when Charley learns about his partner’s past dalliances – which become all the more bizarre when Yuri reveals he may be a grandfather to a current pupil at the school they’re confined to. As they navigate their new lives in this in-between state, the afterlife support group, led by Mr Martin (Josh Zuckerman), becomes a space for explosive confrontations and dark secrets, as the group tries to uncover the meaning behind their scars and what their futures might hold.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking with Peyton List and Milo Manheim about returning for a third season and the physical challenges of their budding romance.

Nick Pugliese and Sarah Yarkin chatted about this season’s storylines and how much deeper the series delves into the supernatural world. The pair also discussed how we get to know the characters on a far more intimate level this time around.

We spoke with Josh Zuckerman about the darker elements of his role as Mr Martin in season three, while newcomer Jennifer Tilly discussed joining the cast as Dr Deborah Hunter-Price, the new school superintendent, and why not everything is as it seems with her character.

Spencer Macpherson, Kiara Pichardo and Rainbow Wedell were happy to reveal the best parts of returning to the story, what’s in store for their characters, and some of the standout moments on set.

Speaking with Ci Hang Ma and Miles Elliot revealed the importance of their storylines around queer relationships and the uncertainty of fitting into a box. They also talked about their characters’ intriguing backstories, which come to the forefront this season and impact both the group dynamic and their relationships.
