Chloé Robichaud’s Two Women will arrive in UK cinemas on 3ʳᵈ April 2026, following a strong reception at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award.

The film reimagines Claude Fournier’s 1970 cult hit Two Women in Gold, updating the story for a contemporary audience. Written by Catherine Léger and adapted from her stage play, the film explores suburban frustration, friendship and sexual liberation through a darkly comic lens.

Karine Gonthier-Hyndman and Laurence Leboeuf play Florence and Violette, neighbours whose lives appear stable on the surface but are quietly coming apart. Violette is struggling emotionally during maternity leave, while Florence finds herself feeling disconnected from everything around her. As their conversations turn to what might be missing from their lives, a series of impulsive decisions – including a string of affairs – begins to disrupt the routines of their quiet neighbourhood.

What follows is a mix of awkward encounters, shifting relationships and moments of unexpected solidarity as the two women test the limits of their newfound freedom.

The cast also includes Yellowjackets star Sophie Nélisse alongside Mani Soleymanlou, Félix Moati and Juliette Gariépy.

Robichaud previously directed Sarah Prefers to Run, which premiered in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, while Léger is known for the acclaimed coming-of-age film Slut in a Good Way. Together, they bring a contemporary sensibility to the story’s mix of provocation and humour.
