New trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie drops as Donald Glover joins cast
Nintendo and Universal have released the final trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, giving fans a new look at the colourful space-set adventure ahead of its cinema release on 1st April 2026.
Dropped to mark “Mar10 Day” (10 March), the trailer teases a bigger, more cosmic outing for Mario and friends, building on the huge success of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which became one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time.
Alongside the new footage, several additions to the voice cast have been confirmed. Donald Glover will voice fan-favourite character Yoshi, while Luis Guzmán joins as Wart and Issa Rae as Honey Queen. They join returning and new cast members, including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day and Jack Black.
The film draws inspiration from the much-loved Super Mario Galaxy games, shifting the action into outer space with new worlds, characters and challenges for the iconic plumber. Behind the scenes, the creative team remains largely unchanged, with directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic returning, alongside writer Matthew Fogel.
Following the massive global success of the first film, expectations are high for this next chapter, which looks set to expand the Mario universe in even more ambitious and visually inventive ways.
