Monaco strengthened its standing as one of Europe’s leading gastronomic destinations today, when the 117th Michelin Guide France & Monaco ceremony was held at the Grimaldi Forum in the principality – the first time in over 120 years that the event has taken place outside France. The ceremony announced new star awards across France and Monaco, with the latter receiving two new recognitions that bring its total to 14 Michelin stars spread across nine establishments, all contained within an area of just over two square kilometres.

Across France and Monaco combined, the ceremony unveiled one new three-star restaurant, seven new two-star establishments, 54 new one-star restaurants and 14 venues recognised for their ethical approach to gastronomy.

Marco Tognon, manager of Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac at the Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo, received the Michelin Service Award for 2026. The accolade recognises his approach to hospitality, which the guide described as combining professional refinement with attentive, intuitive guest care.

Newcomer Robuchon Monaco on Rue du Portier in the Larvotto district received its first Michelin star. The restaurant pays tribute to the late Joël Robuchon and operates under the direction of chef Jonathan Larrieu. Its menu retains the celebrated Robuchon Mashed Potato as an accompaniment to every main course, while broader dishes reflect the influence of the late chef’s culinary philosophy. 

Meanwhile, the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse retains its three-star status. Chef Alain Ducasse, who is Monégasque, centres the menu on Mediterranean ingredients including fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables and precisely constructed sauces. It is served in a dining room that features crystal chandeliers and classical décor.

Christophe Cussac’s Les Ambassadeurs at the Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo holds two stars. Chef Cussac applies contemporary sensibility to classical French technique, working primarily with Mediterranean produce. The restaurant’s interiors are designed by Jacques Garcia, and pastry chef Patrick Mesiano runs the dessert programme.

By the sea on the Larvotto Peninsula (with a picturesque terrace to boot), Blue Bay Marcel Ravin at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort also holds two stars. Ravin draws on his Martinique heritage to combine Caribbean and Mediterranean culinary influences, using produce partly sourced from the hotel’s kitchen garden. 

Another with two stars is L’Abysse Monte-Carlo, housed within the Hôtel Hermitage and representing a collaboration between Yannick Alléno and master sushi chef Yasunari Okazaki. The menu is built around fresh local Mediterranean seafood, with Alléno’s signature sauces providing a French dimension to the Japanese-influenced cooking.

Alléno also heads up Pavyllon Monte-Carlo at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo. The restaurant, which holds one star, foregrounds an open kitchen with counter seating and relies on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, plant-led dishes and modern techniques including fermentation and extraction. A terrace overlooking the port adds a further dimension during the warmer months.

At the Monte Carlo Beach hotel, Elsa by Marcel Ravin has one star and has developed what it describes as a “marine garden” concept. Chef Domenico D’Antonio leads the kitchen under Marcel Ravin’s direction, putting seafood paired with seasonal vegetables in the spotlight. 

Known for its charcoal-cooked whole cuts and classic soufflés, Le Grill on the eighth floor of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo is another restaurant boasting a star. Executive chef Dominique Lory oversees a menu that celebrates grilled meats and seafood using seasonal Mediterranean produce.

Finally, Antonio Salvatore’s La Table d’Antonio Salvatore au Rampoldi in central Monte Carlo also holds one star. The chef serves Italian cuisine informed by contemporary technique, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and dishes that balance tradition with modern refinement.
