The White Lotus heads to the French Riviera as season four begins filming
The White Lotus is trading tropical beaches for the south of France, with filming now underway on season four of Mike White’s hit HBO series.
The new season is being shot across the French Riviera, with locations including Cannes, St Tropez and Monaco, alongside additional filming in Paris. This time, the story will unfold during the Cannes Film Festival, following a fresh group of wealthy guests and hotel staff over the course of a week.
As with previous seasons, the setting is expected to play a central role, with luxury hotels such as the Hôtel Martinez and Airelles Château de la Messardière standing in as the latest White Lotus properties.
The cast is stacked with familiar names and new additions, including Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Kumail Nanjiani and Chris Messina. They’re joined by a wider ensemble featuring the likes of Parker Posey, Rosie Perez, Chloe Bennet and Heather Graham, continuing the show’s tradition of large, interwoven casts.
While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the shift to Cannes suggests a backdrop of celebrity culture, excess and industry politics – fertile ground for the show’s signature mix of satire and slow-burning tension.
Created, written and directed by Mike White, The White Lotus has become one of HBO’s most talked-about series, with each season exploring privilege, power and human behaviour through a new location and set of characters.
A release date for season four has yet to be announced.
