From Cannes winners to cult classics, MUBI unveils packed May line-up
MUBI has revealed its May programme, bringing together a mix of recent festival standouts, curated collections and classic titles from across world cinema.
Leading the line-up are a trio of recent releases, including Diego Céspedes’s Cannes-winning debut The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo, Oliver Laxe’s Jury Prize-winning Sirât, and the concert film Mitski: The Land, capturing the artist across three nights in Atlanta.
Alongside new arrivals, the platform is rolling out a series of themed collections. African Cinema at Cannes: A Panorama traces decades of filmmaking from the continent at the festival, featuring titles from the 1950s through to the present day, while Double Truth: Two by Spike Lee brings together Do the Right Thing and Malcolm X.
There’s also a spotlight on Cher, with Moonstruck and Mermaids forming a double bill celebrating her screen career, as well as By the Book: Auteur Adaptations, a collection tied to the Hay Festival exploring literary works reimagined for the screen.
Elsewhere, a selection of notable titles joins the platform throughout the month, including Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas and Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon, arriving ahead of the director’s upcoming Cannes premiere.
With a blend of contemporary cinema, archival discoveries and curated strands, MUBI’s May slate offers a broad snapshot of global filmmaking, from recent festival hits to enduring classics.
