“I would like to have an action career, and I’m working on it now”: Bill Nighy on Ride or Die

This new, action-packed comedy show, Ride or Die, from creator Tessa Coates, stars Hannah Waddingham (Judith) and Octavia Spencer (Debbie) as two unlikely best friends who find their friendship put to the test when Debbie discovers her sidekick Judith is hiding her identity as an undercover assassin.

When a hit goes horribly wrong, the pair become embroiled in the criminal underworld and are forced to embark on a chaotic journey across Europe with felons and rival assassins hot on their trail. Bill Nighy stars in the role of Judith’s deadpan boss, The Director, and his dark humour underpins the chaos and emotional layers that form this eight-part series, filmed in Prague, with Peyton Reed serving as director for the first two episodes.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Nighy about his role in the series and the elements of his character he enjoyed playing. He also spoke about being on location in such a beautiful country and the possibility of him leaning into more action roles.
