Jewellery find: Amy Lawrence’s knitted necklaces

Here at The Upcoming we love handmade treasures and we think we may have found our new craft crush. Textile designer Amy Lawrence’s collections of knitted necklaces are an interesting and unique twist on modern jewellery. Each piece is carefully loomed on Amy’s giant Italian knitting machine and portrays her influences of science and nature.

Having learnt various skills whilst working as a swatch designer, Amy then went on to create her own home studio and formed her brand.

The designs consist of geometric shapes and bold complimentary colours. The use of high quality fabrics, such as lambs’ wool and cashmere blends give the necklaces a more cosy vibe and therefore will feel more adaptable to your wardrobe. With such detail and precision, the necklaces look like small pieces of tapestry in accessory form. A great edition to an outfit or statement piece, the necklaces are versatile to suit the customer. Although there is a lot going on in the designs, they are very light weight and wouldn’t be a hassle to wear, like some other statement pieces!

The current collection consists of 25 items, which can be sourced on Amy’s Etsy shop. With reoccurring themes of layering and a wine- and coral-coloured palette, the collection is very reminiscent of autumn/winter.

cosine necklace

This Cosine necklace could almost pass as a collar and we love the way it looks with that denim shirt. Suspended from a bronze chain this burgundy and gold piece could be worn day or night.

Chevron necklace

The Chevron necklace could be used as an everyday accessory. Worn with a plain blouse or tea dress, it could really bring that extra something to an ordinary outfit.

Mako necklace

Influenced by natural occurring symmetry, the Mako necklace is a much bolder piece and would be a real head-turner for the upcoming Christmas parties. Team with pale or soft colours to make it really pop.

Bet you’ve never had jewellery that felt this snuggly? Buy your own here.
