MFW – Gucci A/W 2013 collection

Frida Giannini sums up her collection for Gucci, as “steely yet sexy” and possessing a “dangerous femininity”.  The cinematic feel of the Hitchcock silhouette teamed with the opulent glamour of the 1940s create a dramatic but powerful sense of effeminateness and compelling feel of sophistication.

Giannini focuses on the sharp and bold shapes of the 1970s silhouette, jumpsuits, bold jackets teamed with high necklines create an almost aggressive aura, with classic Gucci leather boots, super strong metallics and burgandys, Giannini succeeds in delivering a dominant yet sexy collection.

Evening wear brought a darker and almost dangerous sense of 1940s opulence. Feathers, embellishment and melancholic palette depicted a tougher and dangerous glamour. The dark and gothic muted shades and textured pieces present a raven-like and womanly ambiance.

Giannini teams the cinematic 1970s silhouette with the dark shades of 1940s glamour to create a strong, tough but profoundly feminine collection.
