Get catwalk style hair in four easy steps

One of the hottest hairstyles for A/W13 was found on the House of Holland catwalk. Holland’s collection Nana Rave inspired by the end of the second summer of love and the acid house scene at the end of the eighties. The range is comprised of psychedelic patterns, clashing bights and boho shapes with tortoiseshell and jewel embellishment thrown in for good measure.

Hairdresser Adam Reed for BaByliss worked with the House of Holland team to create a look that worked well with the collection’s street and edgy feel. The end result is a style called sweat head. “[The look is] inspired by the idea of coming home after a rave – messy texture with some moisture” Reed explains

The key to morning-after-the-night-before hair is soft movement. Luckily for us the look is super easy to achieve at home thanks to Reed’s easy to follow four step guide.

STEP 1 – After washing, rough-dry your hair using your fingers and a dryer. Why not try the powerful BaByliss Boutique Italian AC Dryer. Then part the hair where the parting naturally falls and divide into three sections ready for tonging.

STEP 2 – Using a loose wave tong, the BaByliss Boutique Loose Waves Tong is a good one for this, on a high heat, tong each one of the sections, wrapping all the hair around the barrel right to the end of the lengths. Hold for 10 seconds and then let the hair drop. Repeat for the other two sections.

STEP 3 – Spray hairspray over the hair and pull through hair using a soft bristle brush, to create a texturised look.

STEP 4 – Work a tiny amount of gel into your hands and finish by pressing onto the hair from root to tip – to give hair that ‘sweaty’ feel. The key is to only use a small amount of product, as this modern and fresh look is all about the tool.
