Charity has never sparkled as much as it will at The Sparkle Gala

Charity has never sparkled as much as it will at The Sparkle Gala

Fashion isn’t just about the latest clothes and newest collections of designers. In fact, fashion is also about helping the less fortunate.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a leading charity that addresses the most instantaneous challenges facing India at this moment in time: malnutrition and access to acceptable education.

This fantastic foundation aims to tackle these two issues and today it provides fresh, nutritive meals to over 1.3 million underprivileged children daily, in more than 8,000 schools in eight states from 19 kitchens – impressive, right?  So, when we were told about The Sparkle Gala, we knew we had to share this fabulous, meaningful event with our fellow fashion fans.

The Sparkle Gala is a glamorous night of haute couture fashion to raise funds for The Akshaya Patra Foundation, with India’s leading dignitaries, ambassadors and celebrities attending. This mesmerising event will take place on the 2nd March 2013 at Vinopolis in London, where it will host 400 guests. Konnie Huq will host the event and the evening’s activities are scheduled to begin with a champagne reception, followed by a luxurious journey of Indian cuisine.

Moreover, one of India’s leading designers, Anamika Khanna, will present a remarkable fashion show, showcasing her own Luxury 2013 collection. This fashionista is also the first designer from India to launch an international label, as well as being one of the first Indian designers to show at Paris fashion week. Could this Gala get anymore exciting? The answer to that is yes.

There will be a charity auction, and goodies will include items such as luxury holidays to expensive wines and great experiences. Every auction has a star prize and, in this instance, the jaw-dropping piece of the auction will be the “Adopt a School” appeal, where amazingly charitable donors can sponsor school lunches in a single school for an entire year. As the UK chair of the event, Dipika Khaitan says, “We hope that on the evening of The Sparkle Gala we can raise funds to reach out to 300 schools and continue with our important community work.”

Just one single, delicious meal will give these hungry children the incentive to go to school. It is a reason for kids to stay in school and gives them an opportunity to be provided with nutrients that will help them concentrate on learning. The Sparkle Gala cannot be missed.

During its publicity, it will inevitably draw attention to the importance of a child’s life in India – especially their need for food and access to education. Spread the word, give a little and help the innocent, sad face that society can turn into a smile through The Akshaya Patra Foundation.
