Step into new season style with Aritzia

Whilst fashion lovers out there are braving the cold to sport Spring/Summer 2012’s next big thing, I, on the other hand, am not so brave and therefore sticking to the winter trends of 2011 to keep me warm this icy January.

Bearing in mind we have now been wearing our winter classics since mid-October (it is England after all), my wardrobe is looking a little tired and so it’s about time I bring you a cool, urban brand that will take any wardrobe from 2011 to 2012. Introducing: Aritzia.

The Coat

Taken from the FW11 lookbook

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been wrapped up in the same bulky winter coat for quite some time now. Sure, it was perfect when you first bought it, but now the wrap over style makes you too hot under all the layers and the faux fur collar has you itching at your neck. So you feel you are in desperate need to update your outerwear choice, yes? Aritzia pride themselves on their parkas and in fashion the parka is one of those timeless staple pieces that never cease to look cool and fresh. I love the utilitarian feel of this Britannia knee-length style. It even comes with an extra wool lining for those chillier days, which can then be removed come early spring when you just need a lightweight cover-up. With a relaxed, oversized fit, layering your style underneath becomes so easy there’s no excuse to miss out in the style stakes.

Double your Denim

Taken from Winter 2011 lookbook

Denim is everywhere right now and doubling it up is the only option! Don’t worry, you won’t end up looking like your dad in a matching jeans and jacket combo; instead, make like Alexa Chung and combine different shades and textures. This is a quirky look that will surely take you right through to the new season. This Aritzia denim shirt oozes vintage-inspired style, clashing textures with the camel coloured jean. Keep grunge-chic in mind and wear your denim with a distressed-look cardigan. And who thought double denim was just for dads?

Inject with Colour

Taken from Fall 2011 lookbook

Yes, the dreaded ‘C’ word. Come early spring, fashion-savvy females panic in their dozens as the winter cover-up clothes of the fall season are pushed out, making room for the barely-there items of summer. Suddenly it no longer feels acceptable to wear black to disguise our post-Christmas podge (surely I’m not the only one still attempting to hide it?), and so colour bursts onto the fashion scene, seeming a little too bright to handle. But at Aritzia, they have the perfect cover-up (yes we can still cover up!). Introducing this stunning Japanese inspired fleece cape. I adore the engineered stripe detail in colours so bold and beautiful you are going to want to show them off! And the cape itself enables you to cover up for just a little longer in the lead up to spring – it’s the perfect purchase from Aritzia!

Preview in Pastel

Taken from Wilfred Winter 2011 lookbook

Unless you have been hiding away in a fashion-free zone for the last month or so (don’t worry, many of us like to at this time of year!), then you will be fully aware that pastel and candy colours are going to be the way forward for Spring/Summer 2012. But before you eagerly purchase your summer wardrobe in these colours alone, why not test the water and take inspiration from Aritzia? The beautiful drape trench coat channels that urban sport trend we have seen coming through from the designer catwalks, and the tunic dress is a timeless fashion piece that can be styled toward any trend. So whether you will be getting sporty or feeling ultra-feminine in SS12’s ultimate girly anecdote, make sure you’re doing it in pastel colours with this amazing trench in your life…

So ladies, as winter draws to a close and spring has suddenly sprung upon us, make sure you turn to Aritzia for some unique style inspiration. The cultured and unique brand has some amazing fashion staple pieces that really will take your wardrobe from 2011 to 2012.
