The Coal Shed marks 15 years with £35 three-course menu at 2011 prices
Fire-cooking restaurant The Coal Shed is marking its 15th anniversary by bringing back several of its original dishes at its 2011 prices, with a three-course menu costing £35 per person at its Brighton and London restaurants from Monday 12th to Sunday 25th October.
The Coal Shed opened in Brighton in 2011, later adding a second site in London to serve meat, seafood and seasonal produce cooked over coal. Their limited-run celebratory selection revives dishes from the brand’s history. It opens with BBQ Jacob’s Ladder, a slow-cooked beef rib starter that debuted with the restaurant in its earliest days. The main course is Dry-Aged Chateaubriand, served with trademark beef dripping chips and peppercorn sauce. Finally, dessert is Sticky Toffee Pudding topped with beef fat caramel and vanilla ice cream.
The team says the set price is almost 50% lower than ordering from the current à la carte menu – quite a saving. And diners can add an optional three-glass wine pairing, with one matched to each course, for an additional £35 per person.
Founder Raz Helalat said: “When we opened The Coal Shed in Brighton in 2011, everything centred around great produce, fire and generous hospitality. 15 years later, those values haven’t changed. This menu gives us the chance to bring back some of the dishes our earliest guests still remember, at a price inspired by where it all began. It’s our way of celebrating the people, suppliers and guests who have been part of the journey.”
