MAC does it again

MAC does it again

Never described as a timid brand, the god of cosmetics MAC has also never been one to coy away from a potential successful collaboration, and this upcoming season is no exception. The names of choice include Gareth Pugh, Daphne Guinness and Iris Apfel, all of whom have been recruited to design their own unique cosmetic palettes, following in the thriving steps of Liberty London, Hello Kitty and Lady Gaga, to name but a few.

The idea is for the colour palettes to directly reflect their creators: previously Gareth Pugh and Daphne Guinness have created dramatic, daring and dark collections to match their personalities. The range includes a selection of lipsticks, blushers and nail varnishes, amongst other items, offering the finest in gothic glamour. In order to create the ultimate statement, MAC offers an array of liquid metallics and deep, dark berry hues. Not surprisingly, the prices of both the Pugh and Guinness collections are slightly higher than MAC’S mainline cosmetics. But what do you expect, by investing in these products you gain a perfect small piece of Pugh, perfect for those of use who yearn after, but unfortunately cannot afford to own, one of his eclectic and unique designs.

If gothic glam isn’t your thing, then I introduce you to MAC’S third creative partnership of the season, with long-serving fashion veteran Iris Apfel. This collection is bold and bright, and definitely not one for fearful, withdrawn wallflowers as it includes a vivid assortment of intense shades and colours. The lip colours come in a range of sizzling pinks, and these can be mixed with matte eye shadows to create a look certain to be as fashion forward as its creator.

Collaborations as cool as these are guaranteed to fly off the shelves, and as MAC’s limited edition lines are notoriously quick to sell out anyway, the only question is: what are you waiting for?
