National Bikini Day: Get ready for the beach in a 1946 invention!

National Bikini Day: Get ready for the beach in a 1946 invention!

There can’t be a man around who isn’t happy about this coming 5th July; all are hoping that they will get to see some women clad in bikinis. Yes, it is National Bikini Day, the day that remembers Louis Reard’s 1946 invention! The Upcoming brings to you a collection of their very much on-trend favourites.

The appeal of the cheeky bottom bikini has never been so prevalent, with the so-called Brazilian bottom adorning many English tourists in different countries. The Insight bikini has a tie-dye effect that gives a great visual, with the triangular cut enhancing your cheeky bottom! If Insight’s great cuts and fabulous colours are just not for you, then we bring you just as good a cut, but this time from Cavalli – the famous Italian fashion brand for fashionistas; the lines are so sleek and are perfect to wear at any size.

It turns out that the nude bikini is back; if you have ever worn one of these you will know to expect double glances and fantastic winks. Here at The Upcoming we adore Fantasie, a collection for larger busted ladies that offers fabulous support along with tonal femininity. Nude bikinis are not just for the larger busted lady, as Shimmi has some great lemon yellow bikinis that are perfect for the hipster in you!

Another trend that we are dying to bring you is the zigzag. Freya Marinella brings you electric prints that are fabulous against any skin tone and Matthew Zink, former design director for Victoria’s Secret, brings us Charlie which really is a “zig-a-zig-ah” and the shape with a twist is more than fantastic!

We urge you to try out these key trends: cheeky it, nude it and zigzag it, although not all at the same time! And if you really want to explore further, don’t forget to wrap it and retro it!
