Citizens! – True Romance (single) | Album review

London-based band Citizens! have released a raunchy video to accompany their new single True Romance, released on the iconic label Kitsuné.

Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos has control over the production of this band (promising) and they are signed to the same French label as Two Door Cinema Club. True Romance is an upbeat little number with featuring innocent, playful bells, an austere piano keynote and synthesized bass-line. More electronica is added to the indie-pop’s cool piece as it goes on, but the lead singer’s voice always keeps a calm feel about the song and it returns to the original, stripped-down, catchy melody that is heard from the beginning.

This fits well with the video (check it out below) – couples passionately kissing amid unlikely, chaotic scenes: a building site, a riot in the street and a shop getting looted. Makes you wonder if your romance is that true. Or maybe you’re just not that good of a kisser compared these naughty, death-defying minxes.

Be sure to check out their debut album, Here We Are.
