The PPQ Christmas party with Alt-J at Baroque Mayfair

The PPQ Christmas party with Alt-J at Baroque Mayfair

Baroque Mayfair in W1 was transformed into a saucy display of Christmas fun late on Thursday night, as fashion designer duo PPQ showed guests exactly how to celebrate the season in style.

Renowned for their in-demand catwalk shows at London Fashion Week, as well as their eccentric statements and bold use of colour in their designs, PPQ are always the ones to watch no matter what the season. With followers including Rihanna, Lily Allen, Peaches Geldof and Alexa Chung, we knew that PPQ in a party form would be nothing but spectacular.

The glamorous choice of venue was the first correct factor on the party checklist. Baroque, the brand new club inside of the infamous Playboy establishment, oozes sheer sophistication as soon as you walk through the door. With signature Playboy bunnies providing waitress service within an old-fashioned setting, guests were wrapped in an atmosphere of vintage Hollywood glamour. Dancers scattered across the room gave a somewhat sexy feel with their alluring moves and provocative attire.

Marrying fashion with music, PPQ also run their own record label and therefore could not disappoint when it came to their festive celebrations. Nick Grimshaw provided a warm up DJ set that hit you on entrance to the club, playing an array of old school R‘n’B classics that ensured the bass was loud and enthralling.

As the clock struck midnight, Alt-J took to the club’s small and intimate stage. Playing popular songs such as Breezeblocks and Something Good, Alt-J managed to give an added “cool” edge to the evening with their quirky nature and catchy tunes. Whether they are Mercury Prize winners or not, the band have still managed to stay true to their delicate, humble roots, making them the perfect act to perform at such a party.

The evening was very much the definition of fun. Guests were able to dance away into the night with a whole array of tunes pouring through the speakers and despite the pricey cocktail list, everyone was undoubtedly having a good time. The event itself did not prevail any form of Christmas character, but instead showed guests exactly how parties should be done.
