Pastry chef Nicolas Rouzaud has opened a new café, Le Café, in Piccadilly’s Burlington Arcade this week. The establishment aims to bring elements of French café culture to the heart of the city, offering an all-day dining menu inspired by Rouzaud’s childhood in France.

Le Café’s menu centres on classic French dishes, with a particular focus on the brioche à tête, an iconic pastry that Rouzaud cites as a major influence from his early years. It will be served in both sweet and savoury variations, prepared using traditional and rarely mastered techniques. The full menu has not yet been made public, however, the emphasis on seasonal and carefully crafted dishes suggests a rotating selection that may change throughout the year. Rouzaud’s reputation as a pastry chef is expected to draw significant interest. “Le Café is the place for a morning coffee, an afternoon pastry or a long leisurely lunch with a cocktail or glass of champagne,” he said in a statement. The menu is intended to be “indulgent and unapologetically gourmand,” with the goal of making guests feel at home.

The café’s interiors are described as rich, glazed and welcoming, in keeping with the historic Burlington Arcade’s gradeur. Its opening marks another addition to the luxury shopping destination’s diverse food scene, reflecting a broader trend of French-inspired dining venues appearing in the capital.

Le Café is now open to the public in Burlington Arcade, with further details about the menu and opening hours anticipated in the coming weeks.
