What will the modern dandy be wearing in autumn/winter 2013?

British contemporary menswear designers have collaborated this season to provide new looks for the modern dandy. This exclusive viewing called Kollective Men took place in the Wolf & Badger Gallery in London’s Mayfair on Monday 28th January. Brands such as Coeur, Peregrine Clothing, Smith/Grey, Fox Hunt and Euphorik showcased their collections for autumn/winter 2013. Guests were given a chance to talk with the designers about their collections, before viewing selected looks on the catwalk.

Coeur uses the tag line “Playfully preppy for the modern day dandy” and this collection fits it perfectly. Many of the garments are made from archived lace weave and in a 250-year-old factory in Britain. Designer Peter Jeun Ho Tsang said he was inspired by The Great Gatsby. With the signature print and the signature V on the back of the neck, Coeur designs are easily recognisable and impossible to forget.

Peregrine Clothing is known for being niche and for its strong British heritage, due to its designs being made in England since 1796. This collection stuck to its traditional British feel, with waxed blazers and tweed gilets. Peregrine Clothing also introduced their first spring/summer collection, using more lightweight fabrics and polo cuts to add a cooler feel to the clothing.

High waisted trousers appear to be making a comeback in Fox Hunt’s current look-book. Each piece in the collection is individually made in Britain fitting each customer’s request. Tans and dark greys can be seen, they are both wearable and stylish colours for autumn/winter.

Euphorik’s collection was all about the simplicity of the modern dandy; with smart blazers and coats that appear timeless and of course, lots of black can be seen.

Jewellery brand Smith/Grey showcased their designs inspired by memories. Their handmade pieces captured many guests’ attentions, especially the sneak peak of their new autumn/winter collection.

Four male models walked through the event each modeling different designer’s clothes. Guests applauded the designers’ hard work as they sipped on free beer and listened to music.

It appears that the menswear looks for autumn/winter 2013 could be anything from classic British knitwear, to bright patterns and Gatsby style smoking jackets. We know one thing for sure, the modern dandy will be a very well-dressed man.
