So the beloved crop top has been back with us for a little while now and we’ve seen it in abundance out in the bars and clubs of the UK. It’s a quirky addition to high-waisted skirts and shorts with heels or flats, and gives a simple outfit a bit of flair. But how can we work the crop top into daytime winter fashion?

We at The Upcoming also love the return of the maxi skirt. It works great for hippy summery looks, especially with a cheeky crop top. Surprising skin on show is a real trend right now, so it’s worth covering up the pins and flashing a bit of tummy.

The maxi/crop combo is more than doable in these cold wintery months.  You can either keep your summer look and add a pair of sturdy black boots and a chunky cardigan, or you can go for a whole new perspective, keeping only the crop/maxi concept.

A close-fitting high-waisted jersey maxi combined with a long-sleeved crop and some killer heels couldn’t be further away from the hippy chic stereotype, and definitely creates an air of edgy sophistication.

For a more rock & roll look, simply change the textures and add a cut off band tee with a pair of heeled ankle boots.

The maxi skirt paired with a crop is a far more versatile look than you think, so definitely have fun and experiment with this completely on trend look.
