Spring London’s press day showcase A/W 13 collections
Spring London held a press day yesterday in the heart of Mayfair; showing off A/W 13 collections from designers such as Aigner, Alexis Barrell, Bill Amberg, Herve Leger and Jerome C. Rousseau. The event displayed a vast variety of pieces, from unique womenswear, beautiful footwear and luxury leather goods.
Bill Amberg’s collection consisted of innovative yet classic leather goods. The brand has mainly specialised in men’s accessories over the years which have provided any man in need of a durable, practical travel bag or backpack, with a fashionable yet timeless solution. The simplicity of the pieces are what make them so appealing; with all of the goods embracing a dark, rich colour palette of navy, black, maroon and mustard in classic shapes. As well as bags, there were also some travel games on display (a set of dominoes in a leather-lined box or a cool, leather alternative to Backgammon)! The brand has recently branched out to a female market and the women’s bags available reflect the signature style of Amberg – oozing elegance and an eternal fashion statement.
Aigner also provided luxury leather goods, but were targeted strictly to a female market. This collection boasted an assortment of both bright and dark colours; in an interesting array of shapes and tassles and even a collection of vibrant, lavish silk scarves which are perfect to brighten up the winter months and wearable in spring/summer! There was also a Heritage range of bags on display that were re-made and updated designs of Aigner bags from the 1970s, all of which exuded maturity and class.
One of the most eye-catching collections came from Herve Ledger that provided an impressive array of occasion wear. Think figure hugging bodycon dresses, lots of embellishment, bold geometric print and bright colours. Beautiful quality and interesting silhouettes make Herve Ledger a flawless brand.
A collection of shoes from LA based designer Rousseau in the midst of the other bags, clothing and scarves collection was a perfect addition. The brand provide high quality footwear and the pieces on display were of an individual yet contemporary style and give an LA feel – with celebrities such as Cameron Diaz and Charlize Theron wearing shoes from the collection.
The biggest collection at the event belonged to African designer Alexis Barrell. The collection is inspired by Berlin, yet some pieces embraced African fashion with tribal and safari print included onto the designs. Showing off their beautifully textured dresses, printed crops, patterned trousers, neon bags and patent leather pieces, it’s no doubt that this collection alone could cover your whole summer wardrobe – everything from occasion to casual wear.
The location of the event couldn’t be more appropriate, in the heart of one of London’s most prestigious and upcoming fashion areas. Each collection offered something different yet all shared a common theme of timeless, superior and deluxe pieces to meet all tastes.
