Press Day: stroll into summer with TK Maxx

One brand, five destinations, thousands of designer and high-street labels, and all at purse-friendly prices. We were invited to view TK Maxx’s High Summer collection, and over black coffee, croissants and OJ, we happily observed.

Five rails of attentively placed clothing stood firmly in the centre of the room demanding attention and luring in guests. Shockingly embellished kaftans sat beside vivid summer dresses and floral beach shorts, while laid back denim shirts and casual stripy tees accompanied oversized boyfriend blazers. This is TK Maxx’s “#summer4keeps” campaign, derived from the five popular summer destinations of Ibiza, the Caribbean, Paris, New York and, of course, London!

Searching through the Caribbean Cruise collection, we were swept away by the exotic blues and pinks combined with tropical prints and busy patterns. The array of colour set the idyllic scene of lazing on a beach in the hot Caribbean sun. Advised to go for a “strong colour pop and bold print” by TK Maxx stylist, Rachel Davis, this collection is for the colour enthusiast ready to stand out this summer. A printed crop top and skirt combo costs just under £21 together.

Parisian City Break and London Staycation are ideal for those who want to attain a more laidback look this summer. The Paris collection oozes casual sophistication by pairing monochrome stripes with deep corals, and light florals with mellow whites. A key piece in this collection is a light floral jacket designed by Ethina at only £16.99. Known for their similarities when it comes to fashion, the London Staycation collection also promotes a more placid feel to your summer wardrobe. With the key colours being blue and yellow, the London collection has a nonchalant air, with some statement pieces. Bright yellow, seen on all spring/summer catwalks, cloaks itself over excellently tailored ted baker shorts, only £29.99, paired perfectly with an eye grabbing floral blazer by Amphora, also at £29.99.

Another big city for fashion inspiration brings us to New York Days, a collection comprising of chic monochrome prints and sleek metallics paired with chiffon dresses and silky blouses. Rachel Davis summarises New York Days as being about “super slick and super chic pieces”. A golden embellished jacket by Robert Rodriguez is definitely the statement piece from this collection and is priced at £169.99 whilst a just as striking, bronze metallic bikini is only £9.99.

Finally, for those jetting off to the party island of Ibiza, here comes Ibiza Cool. The collection embodies the legendary fun of Ibiza, incorporated with an easy going, island feel. Garish neons are teamed with holiday essential hoodies. A silk pink American Apparel jacket is only £11. “Work glam with casual,” Rachel Davis recommends, “and don’t be afraid to clash hot orange and pink [with] a statement print.”

Although often unappreciated, TK Maxx is the source for high quality, one off and unique pieces at shockingly good prices and is all available down your local high street!
