Phannatiq: ethical fashion inspired by the urban streets of London
Phannatiq was set up in 2011 by Anna Skobdo, a fashion graduate from the small town of Whitby who studied at the University of Hertfordshire before starting up this innovative and exciting fashion label.
After showcasing the first Phanntiq line Abeyance at autumn/winter Fashion Week in 2011, the label has taken the fashion world by storm and continues to showcase their lines at numerous fashion weeks in both Paris and London.
As the head of the brand Anna ensures that the pieces are produced in the UK and because they are all created by hand every article is original. Phannatiq uses silk-screen printing as an integral method and the label is continually finding ways to lower their carbon footprint.
With such an ethically righteous company there is a risk that the fashion pieces suffer but with Phannatiq you are presented with a stunning, stylish and eclectic array of garments that are wonderfully inspired by the city of London. Graffiti infused imagery is splashed across shirts and tights and the modern hoodie is feminised into a slinky black mini dress. The striking mix of harsh urban textures or styles with sassy feminine shapes and colours makes the pieces of Phannatiq beautifully original but totally wearable.
Phannatiq has managed to create staples in the form of tie-dye jeans evidently inspired by the intrigue of urban decay and street art as well as the simple yet classic black vest that echoes the timelessness and boldness of our great capital.
