Helena Christensen launches her Kipling collection

Breakfast set amongst an array of designer handbags is certainly a great start to the morning. That’s exactly how The Upcoming kicked off the day as we enjoyed the first peak into Kipling’s limited edition collection by Helena Christensen.

The world-renowned supermodel remarked on her love for the brand: “Since my early twenties, I’ve been pulling Kipling suitcases along on all my trips all over the world” so it seems fitting that she finally plays a role in the design of one of Kipling’s ranges. Helena, who is also known for her passion for photography and philanthropy, brought aspects of her life into the collection. From her personal attraction to lace in her photography – a number of elements are moulded into her designs.

The medium rose bag is the focus of the collection.  The dusky pink photo-print design stems from a photograph of a rose taken by Helena. It is unique and elegant – the perfect centre-point of the exclusive series.

However, Helena’s personal favourite is the tan and black leather clutch. “It looks chic yet simple,” she says, and we agree. Furthermore, we love the way it’s shaped to be worn in various ways. Funnily enough, this piece was actually inspired by her leather couch!

Her love for lace inspired the vintage feel to her collection. From large everyday bags to small handbags and make-up bags, the touch of lace fuses the collection beautifully. And of course, we were delighted to find one of these stylish creations in our Kipling gift-bag.

Although Helena’s presence is evident in the line, the Kipling label is still distinct. The brand’s belief in creating high quality, practical and stylish products is highlighted in all of Christensen’s designs. Ultimately, the two big names have collaborated to produce amazing results.
