8. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – Darlene Love

In 1963 the lead singer of The Blossoms, Darlene Love, released the holiday song Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). The song became a feature on the compilation album A Christmas Gift for You from Philles Records which was produced by 60s girl group pioneer Phil Spector. The song may have cult familiarity as it was used during the title intro scene of the popular seasonal film Gremlins. It seems a written rule for a yuletide song is for it to include bell chimes and a choir. It’s the big band feeling of this hit that warms the spirit and puts you in the mood to enjoy the moment.
