George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s first wedding pictures released

Amal Alamuddin only married George Clooney a few days ago, but already the exclusive wedding pictures have made it on to the pages of People and HELLO! magazines.

The 36-year-old barrister chose a bespoke off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta gown made of French lace, hand-embroidered with pearls and diamanté accents and featuring a full circular train, worn with a long, lace-edged veil. The lace was crafted at the Sophie Hallette factory in France, one of the oldest lace factories in the world, which also provided the lace for the Duchess of Cambridge’s Alexander McQueen wedding dress.

Clooney, 53, selected a made-to-measure cashmere and wool black tuxedo by Giorgio Armani, paired with a white shirt, black bow tie and oxfords in smooth, brushed black leather. He completed the look with cufflinks gifted to him by his new bride, inscribed with “George” in Arabic.

The nuptials took place on Friday, in the gilded hall at Venice’s historic Aman Canal Grande Venice, with 100 guests, including Anna Wintour, Matt Damon, Bono, Cindy Crawford and Emily Blunt. The guests were conveyed to and from the venue in vintage water taxis, and also took home, as a momeneto, an iPod loaded with music chosen by the couple.

The newlywed made her first appearance as Mrs Clooney on Sunday, stepping out in a Giambattista Valli creation. The beautiful white macramé dress was hand-embellished with purple and peach beaded blossom, and featured a structured skirt with subtle high-low hemline.

Following a weekend of celebrations, the marriage was made official on Monday, in a 10-minute civil ceremony at Venice City Hall. Alamuddin wore a chic, bespoke two-piece Stella McCartney ensemble, featuring cream wide-leg trousers and a cropped top with navy hemline, complemented by an elegant, wide-brimmed floppy hat.

“We’re looking forward to everything,” said Clooney of his newly-married life ahead.
