Nicholas K catwalk show report for NYFW A/W 2015
There is a reason why Nicholas K has been the opening show of IMG Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York since 2011 and continues to be noticed by top publications, media and in entertainment around the world.
It was love at first sight for the brother/sister team of the Nicholas K A/W 2015 Collection entitled The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. The gray backdrop and starck-lighting paired with the almost eerie yet relaxing music created an ambiance that was sensual and visually striking. The clothes are functional enough for everyday wear, but move, travel and shift with the body creating a luxe urban edge. Known for their durability and versatility, this season did not disappoint.
The models floated down the runway in flowing materials of crèmes, blacks and grays with hints of rich burgundy and deep browns. A few sheers drifted by in the form of long gowns, with an understated yet sexy vibe. Edgy jackets were seen in both structured form and a modern take on the cape. Hats were whimsical with motorcycle-esque leather caps and classic fur hats. A classic stiletto was paired with leg-warmers and the occasional fishnet, adding a hint of sharpness. Bobbi Brown Cosmetics created the dewy flawless faces and Aveda styled the straight, minimalist styles with side bangs.
