Emma Roberts fronts Photoshop-free Aerie campaign

Aerie, American Eagle’s lingerie brand, has a habit not to Photoshop models in their ad campaigns, which perfectly marries these times in which models and actresses are taking off their make-up and showing themselves “as real as they are” all across the web.

For the upcoming season Aerie chose as testimonial the beautiful young actress Emma Roberts, best-known for American Horror Story: Coven and now one of the most promising actresses, with her new series Scream Queens about to come out.

Recently Emma showed some backstage pictures of the campaign talking about it as a new and exciting “secret project” she was involved in. She later addmitted she was very excited to be part of the #AerieREAL project, and pretty nervous too.

Talking to People magazine, she shared some anxieties and insecurities she had about her body: “I definitely have a complex about being pale because I’ve been made fun of my whole life, so I was nervous about that. When I was a kid, everyone would be like, ‘Your legs are so pale! I can’t believe you’re wearing a dress!’ And I would get so embarrassed. I would get spray tans, and I look back at those photos now, and I just think, ‘Oh my goodness, you’re orange. I would tell my younger self to stop spray-tanning so much. Just own it.’” she said.

In spite of that, this un-retouched photoshoot was a total win against her teenage concerns. Roberts said that she has never felt as confident and happy about a shoot as she has did on the set of the Aerie campaign.
