VMAs 2015: Red carpet round-up

The MTV Video Music Awards were held in Los Angeles on the 30th August 2015 and some of the biggest stars in the business were in attendance. We take a look at the best and worst dressed of the night.

One of the newest additions to the Victoria’s Secret family, Martha Hunt stunned in a simple but chic black sequinned mini dress from designer Georges Chakra. The couture LBD featured sheer sleeves and a diamond-encrusted belt, emphasising the model’s enviable figure whilst she completed the look with Stuart Weitzman tie-up heels.

Black proved to be the colour of the night as fellow VS model, Lily Aldridge stunned in a floor length Alexandre Vauthier dress accessorised with Jennifer Meyer jewellery. The brunette beauty stunned in this simplistic design featuring a daring neckline and waist cut-outs, whilst she kept her make-up fresh faced and dewy with bronzed skin and a nude lip.

Vanessa Hudgens showed us how to pull off a boho festival vibe whilst walking the red carpet in this light pink Naeem Khan ensemble. The boho-chic organza creation featured a plunging neckline and crystal floral embroidery. She layered on the jewellery and added a milkmaid braid to her flowing, wavy locks.

Paper Towns actress, Cara Delevingne added a touch of edge to the VMA red carpet in a star print fringed Saint Laurent creation, which was perfectly complemented by cool and subtle make-up. The flirty black fringed mini dress showcased her model pins to perfection, whilst she accessorised with strappy black Stuart Weitzman heels.

However despite a team of stylists, hairdressers and make-up artists at their disposal, some stars failed to impress in tacky, garish and very revealing outfits.

Kim Kardashian-West left much to be desired in this ill-fitting lace-up dress from Balmain. Instead of highlighting her pregnancy curves, the dress clung to the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star in all the wrong places, whilst the colour was an unflattering choice.

Singer Taylor Swift was in attendance at the VMAs as her new music video Wildest Dreams premiered for the first time, however her outfit did not live up to expectations. The sequinned multicoloured checker co-ords by Ashish were too garish for the red carpet, especially teamed with the androgynous eye makeup and slicked back hair.

The show’s host, Miley Cyrus also made it amongst the worst dressed of the night in this Atelier Versace ensemble. The outfit included a bodice consisting of buckled silver straps and a chandelier-style skirt, which she paired with metallic over-the-knee boots.

Finally, a final star who failed to impress was model of the moment, Gigi Hadid in a tangerine-yellow Emilia Wickstead dress, paired with Giuseppe Zanotti heels. The low neckline showed off her bust, however the bodysuit showed too much leg to be paired together, making the dress less classy. The shade of yellow failed to compliment her skin tone whilst slicked back hair and nude make-up made her look pale and washed out.
