BAFTAs 2016: The Revenant and Mad Max: Fury Road sweep the awards

BAFTAs 2016: The Revenant and Mad Max: Fury Road sweep the awards

After the taster of the Golden Globes and with the anticipation of the Academy Awards ahead, the BAFTAs mark an incredible evening to celebrate the outstanding work of actors, filmmakers, and all those involved in the movie industry.

With The Revenant leading the pack nabbing the big winners including Best Film, Best Actor and Best Director, the film is in great standing as we approach Oscars ceremony. Perhaps this will be Leonardo DiCaprio’s year to finally claim his first golden statuette. Amidst more Oscar buzz, composer Ennio Morricone won his fifth BAFTA for Best Original Score with hopes to finally win his first Academy Award for the same accolade after an astonishing six nominations.

Mad Max: Fury Road took the esteemed technical awards with no surprise, claiming Best Costume, Best Makeup and Hair, and Best Production Design. Stephen Fry was the ever-charismatic host amongst the romantic Valentine’s Day buzz, with real life couples Fassbender and Vikander and the unlikely Maggie Smith and DiCaprio on a “kiss cam”. The British Academy Film Awards was no less than a magical evening. Without further ado, here are the winners:
