Tom Sellers’s Restaurant Story will relaunch on 8th May with a new “bespoke” dining concept

Tom Sellers will be closing his Restaurant Story in Tooley Street on 31st March for an extensive refurbishment for the first time since it opened in April 2013. The Michelin-starred restaurant, which was launched when Sellers was just 26, will reopen on 8th May 2018 with a new dining concept that will allow for a more bespoke dining experience.

Sellers, who trained under chefs such as Thomas Keller, René Redzepi and Tom Aikens, has featured in Forbes 2016 30 under 30 list and the Evening Standard’s Progress 1,000. His dishes are made up of British and seasonal foods to create a tasting menu that tells a story. When the restaurant relaunches, diners will be treated individually rather than choosing from a set menu – to “create their own bespoke ‘story’” – with as much of the food and beverage service as possible being performed in the dining room in front of guests – including a drinks trolley and table-side food preparation.

The restaurant’s new interior will have a feature ceiling installation, by Michelle McKinney, of swallows taking flight and will incorporate new curved seating, tablecloths and glazed window panes, and guests will also be able to enjoy a playlist curated by the band Rudimental as they dine. The refurbishment will be carried out by Raven Collective

Of the refurbishment, Sellers said: “It is important that the physical space within Story reflects the way that my team and my style of cooking have developed over the years. I was very fortunate, but very young when Story first opened, and I’m excited to look to the future and bring an entirely different experience to our guests.”

On re-opening, Story will offer a choice of two menus per service: for lunch, there will be a choice of £50 for five courses or £100 for eight courses, and for dinner either £125 for 10 courses or £145 for 12 courses. Opening hours are: lunch, Tuesday-Saturday 12pm-5pm, and dinner, Monday-Saturday 6.30pm-9.30pm.
