Six essentials to pack in your beach bag

Six essentials to pack in your beach bag

We’ve no doubt you’ll have had the perfect swimwear and sundresses picked out for your long awaited vacay months in advance. However, when you reach your destination and it’s time to pack that all important beach bag, are you up to the challenge?! These days, a bad beach towel and two year old bottle of sun cream just won’t cut it. Here are six essentials you’ll need for the perfect carefree day at the beach…

Sun protection kit

Okay so we’re cheating a little here and combining three items in one, but for good reason! Sun cream shouldn’t be your only protection from the sun so make yourself a handy sun blocking kit with just a few simple items.

  1. Sun cream – one with a high factor to protect your skin
  2. Lip balm – choose one with SPF. Cracked lips are neither attractive nor comfortable for anyone!
  3. After sun lotion – this isn’t just for lobster looking legs. Give your skin a nice cooling treat after a long day in the scorching heat.

A good beach towel

As large pieces of shabby fabric go, beach towels are pretty pricey! Yes, you can pick up a cute disney themed one for a few pounds. However, the pennies you’ve saved won’t be worth it when it barely covers your behind and only serves to move the water around your body instead of drying it. Invest in a quality towel that’s large enough to cover your entire body and is quick drying for a stress free transition from bikini to sun dress.

Oversized shirt

An invaluable item! Great for slinging over a bikini when you’re too hot, too burnt or too nervous to approach the bar in your swim wear. You can also throw on a pair of sandals with it and you’re ready for a casual drink or snack by the beach.

A Sunhat

Make sure to protect your head from the sun especially when getting in and out of the water. Purchase a straw sun hat with a wide brim, the straw is lightweight and cooling whilst the wide brim will also protect your neck and shoulders.

Insulated water bottle

It’s beyond important to stay hydrated in the high temperatures and insulated bottles will provide you with cool, refreshing water for up to 24 hours! Nobody likes sipping on lukewarm water that’s been sitting in your bag all day.

Wipes

You will not regret packing wipes! Great for sandy feet, sweaty faces, hands covered in ice cream, we could go on.
