Five highlighters to create the perfect glow

Five highlighters to create the perfect glow

When it comes to highlighters, they have long become a make-up staple in any beauty collection. A good highlighter helps to accentuate the highest points of your face, or where the light would naturally hit your features; think tops of cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and dabbed along your cupid’s bow.

To help you decide on the best product for you, we’ve listed our top five picks below.

Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder, £36

Bobbi Brown’s light-reflective powder has been formulated with highly reflective pearl pigments, which crucially avoid chunky glitters that look unnatural. The highlighter, available in five shades, comes in a sleek, mirrored compact so it’s perfect for using on the go.

We love to use the shade Sunset Glow to finish off a makeup look by dusting over the high points of the face; it also works really well when used on its own as a blush.

NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator, £8

For more of a budget option, NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator is a great pick. The lightweight formula is blends easily into the skin and doesn’t seep through your foundation, leaving you with a patchy base. We particularly love the shade Gleam, a peach toned highlighter that works perfectly with a summer tan.BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter, £30

Renowned for its award-winning highlighters, BECCA’s Skin Perfector is a gorgeous pressed powder that come in 14 shades, so there really is something to suit every skin tone. The velvety powder offers a stunning shine, perfect if you want a natural glow without any obvious chalky powder marks.

The ultra-fine pigment pearls adjust to skin’s natural undertones to give luminosity in any light. If you are going to invest in any highlighter, this product should be top of your list.

Benefit High Beam, £15.50

This oldie but goldie still deserves a special place in our make-up bags and a mention on this list!

The original pink satin highlighter glides onto the skin for a gorgeous glow. It can be worn as a highlighter, under or over make-up, or mixed with foundation to give an added sheen to your base. This highlighter is perfect to use over the cupid’s bow; just add a drop blended over lips to give a kissable finish.

Illamasqua Beyond Powder, £34

Illamasqua’s baked powder delivers as one of the top five highlighters purely for its versatility. Not only does it deliver an illuminating finish, the product is one of the most buildable, depending on whether you want to highlight certain points or want an all over illuminating finish.

For a more long lasting and intense look, simply spray your brush with a setting spray before applying. This helps to brighten the highlight and set the product for long wear.
