Frank Sinatra’s music and personal story are taking centre stage at the Aldwych Theatre, where Sinatra the Musical is running in the West End until April 2027.

Joel Harper-Jackson stars as Sinatra, with Ana Villafañe as Ava Gardner, Phoebe Panaretos as his first wife, Nancy Sinatra and Olivier Award winner Jenna Russell as his mother, Dolly.

The production features more than 20 Sinatra songs, including That’s Life, One for My Baby, The Best Is Yet to Come and Come Fly With Me, while tracing the singer’s rise to fame, his relationships and the pressures that came with becoming one of the defining voices of the 20th century.

Written by two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro and directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, the show also features a 17-piece orchestra supervised by Gareth Valentine.

The production is also supporting music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins. Cast members Jenna Russell and Helen Colby are due to visit the charity’s North London centre to take part in an accessible music therapy session with adults with learning difficulties, while the show is also staging a special charity performance in aid of the organisation.

Nordoff and Robbins works with people affected by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation, using music therapy in settings including care homes, schools and hospitals.

Rather than simply presenting a collection of Sinatra standards, the musical sets his songs within a wider portrait of the man behind them, taking in both the public success and private relationships that shaped his life.
