Electronic visa waiver for the United Kingdom

Electronic visa waiver for the United Kingdom

The EVW UK (electronic visa waiver for the UK) is an electronic travel authorisation that allows citizens of Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the UAE to visit the United Kingdom. Under the UK visa waiver program, eligible citizens may travel to the UK visa-free for tourism, business, study, or medical treatment.

The UK government has made it easier to obtain a travel authorisation for the UK by offering a visa waiver program online to the citizens of eligible countries. The traveller visa waiver for the United Kingdom is a single-entry authorisation that allows for a maximum stay of six months in the country and is valid for six months from the date of arrival.

Eligible travellers can apply online using the simple UK EVW application. Completing the UK visa waiver application with personal, passport and travel information takes only a few minutes. Applicants must answer a few security-related questions to submit the application form and receive an approved tourist visa waiver for the United Kingdom via email.

Eligible citizens can apply for the EVW for the UK between three months and 48 hours before their intended arrival date. EVW registrations are typically processed within 24 hours. Citizens who are EVW-eligible and wish to stay in the country for longer periods of time or for specific purposes, such as work, may need a visa for the United Kingdom and should contact their nearest UK Embassy for more information.

EVW UK requirements for EVW-eligible countries

To submit an EVW application, it’s necessary to provide the following to meet the UK online visa waiver requirements:

  • a passport from a country eligible for EVW

  • a valid credit/debit card number to pay the EVW fee

  • an up-to-date email to receive the approved EVW UK.

Applicants must also meet the personal information requirements for UK visa waivers, which include providing:

  • specific details about the valid passport

  • the location where they will be staying in the United Kingdom

  • travel information, including arrival and departure dates and times from the United Kingdom

In order to meet the entry visa waiver requirements for the UK, travellers should also have a printed copy of the approved visa waiver to present alongside their passport upon arrival.

The traveller must also use the same passport to enter the United Kingdom that was used to complete the EVW application form, according to UK EVW requirements. Travellers who hold a dual nationality should be aware of this while travelling to the UK. Any personal information must be entered exactly the same way as it appears on the passport – everything from spaces to hyphens to full stops and apostrophes is included.

It’s important to note that if any personal or travel information is incorrect, the owner will not be permitted to travel.

Every traveller, including children, requires their own EVW. If someone else applies on behalf of a traveller, they must include their own contact information in addition to the applicant’s.

Following submitting an application, they will receive an email within 24 hours with a link to download the EVW.

When visiting the UK, it’s imperative to bring the EVW along. It can be printed or displayed on an electronic device such as a phone or tablet.

Travellers are not permitted to use their EVW to:

  • work in the United Kingdom

  • marry or enter into a civil partnership

The EVW allows travellers to enter the UK only once. If they want to return to the UK, they must obtain another EVW or a visa.

Changes to travel plans

The EVW’s travel details must be changed if the owner:

  • decides on a different date and time for the trip

  • arrives or departs from a different location than originally intended

  • arrives in the United Kingdom more than eight hours after the scheduled time

To make changes, they’ll need their EVW number and birthdate.
