Summer is knocking on the door, which means it’s the perfect time of the year to spruce up the house and make it feel brand-new.

Luckily, this guide has a selection of top tips to try. Whether one lives in a cosy apartment or a large house, these ideas will make the upcoming summer a memorable one.

Buy a portable air conditioning unit

Everyone knows that the weather can get a little warm during the summer – even in the UK.

When this happens, the last thing anyone wants is to be stuck indoors feeling like they’re in the Sahara Desert. Instead, it’s nice to feel fresh and relaxed, which portable air conditioning can help with.

Nowadays, there are lots of stylish air conditioning options to choose from that are both portable and affordable. To gain control of the indoor climate this summer without investing in a permanent solution, it’s worth checking out air conditioning hire. Not only will home feel better, but it will also look better, too.

Invest in a new dining room table

Most homeowners have a dining table where they sit, eat, and relax. In households with families, these are particularly important.

However, dining tables are usually a long-term investment, which means they stay in situ for a long time. If this is true, and the one at home is starting to collect scratches and dents, it might be time to consider looking into a new dining table.

This is an easy way, to modernise a dining room while making it a more comfortable place to be. Plus, it’s even possible to downsize the table or opt for something extendable so that there’s more space to move around.

Repaint the walls

During the summer, many homeowners like to get their hands dirty and try some DIY. Essentially, it’s that time of the year for those projects that have been put off in the colder months.

One of the most effective and lowest cost DIY projects to do this summer is repainting the walls, from the bedrooms to the kitchen. All that’s needed are some old clothes to wear, a ladder, some paint, a high-quality set of brushes and maybe some sand paper.

From here, it’s time to create a new aesthetic in those main rooms. These days, many people like going for minimalistic colours, such as cream and aqua, so it might be good to bear this in mind to stay up-to-date with home design trends!

Clear out the décor no longer needed

Over the years, it’s entirely possible that some décor has become cluttered and dated. For example, this could include table ornaments, art pieces and even old picture frames.

It’s a good idea to clear out any old décor one no longer needs as this will help to freshen up the home and make it feel more spacious. Plus, it opens up opportunities to incorporate new décor at the same time.

Switch up the lighting

Next, it can be very effective to switch up the lighting.

Currently, lots of homeowners are investing in “smart lighting”. Smart lighting is when users connect to the lightbulbs via their smartphones, which then enables to change their colours and tones with the swipe of a finger.
