“It’s about how dark energies sneak up on us and yet it’s a really fun crazy ride”: Nathan Price on The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck!

“It’s about how dark energies sneak up on us and yet it’s a really fun crazy ride”: Nathan Price on The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck!

Following on from the global success of Mark Manson’s self-help book, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck! published over five years ago, this brand new documentary directed by Nathan Price and produced by Matthew Metcalf brings to life his words on a supportive journey that explores the human condition, the pursuit of happiness and the ideology that we can become better people when we follow his simple guidelines.

Manson narrates and stars in the feature himself, which delivers a complete sense of authenticity and engagement to the principles he talks about. Animation, archive footage and symbolic characters like Disappointment Panda weave through the narrative to create an original and captivating feature. Throughout the film, viewers will see daily activities as well as wilder pursuits, and the brutal honesty that Manson presents is refreshingly paired with large quantities of humour.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Price about coming on board with this collaboration, the balance of comedy with the harder topics of death and self-destruction, and what he hopes are some of the messages viewers will take from watching this unique documentary.
